Out of the woods? in what context? we will finish mid table, disappointing after last season obviously, but never in any danger of relegation!
Erm...did I say "out of the woods"?
This was my quote that you used: "Indeed, and I really hope it gives us the confidence we need to finish the season as we started. It really isn't beyond us."

Eh. Happy to get the win and 3 points to at least maintain a gap over Palace and reduce the chances of them finishing above us.

But we make such hard work of creating chances. And it's so frustrating that when we get them, we waste them by hitting the shot so close to or at the keeper, wasting all that effort and making every goalkeeper look like a world beater (Trafford anyone?). Without that penalty it's 0-0.

Is a 1-0 that could have easily been 0-0 a good result against Villa? It would be a good result against a peak Villa, the usual strong villa that takes us apart, but that wasn't peak villa at the amex today. That was a tired, distracted by Europe Villa, who knows they're in a comfortable position for 4th place champions league spot, they were not at the races today and we needed a penalty that we'd call soft if it went against us to get the breakthrough.

I'm still dreading a pasting in our remaining games against a Newcastle and Chelsea who both have found form and momentum of late.

Villa were lucky to play us when they did

We got some measure of revenge on that count

It was immediately obvious that Villa were leggy and not up for it at all and an in form Albion would have blitzed them. RDZ knows from his post match comments that we hit them on a very off day and we made VERY hard work of it BUT it's just so nice to celebrate a goal and a win - those moments are why we go to football and its lovely to feel that way again.

I agree with almost all of that, apart from the part where you said we made 'very hard work of it'. We were better than them all over the pitch - the only thing lacking was a couple of more goals - one marginally offside and a couple of good saves by their keeper.
That could have easily ended 3 -0, and wouldn't have been undeserved, given the stats/chances we had.

I feel like ive only just stopped laughing at their bench. Emery and his step dad energy looking like he was having a flappy hand fight with himself and Terry Nutkins running out to give it the 'meeeeown' aeroplane arms at every set piece.

They were mesmerising.
Nutkins?blimey I thought it was Sam Ryder

Amazing what happens to the players application and motivation when their manager says he’s not leaving

Brilliant win. Last week we looked like we'd given up. This week we stepped up. Hopefully the RDZ comments about the players looking like they had no motivation paid off.

And we absolutely dominated them. Webster and Veltman masterclass. Well done De Zerbi tactics spot on too.
All of this. Feared the season was going to fizzle out completely but so pleased to outplay that bunch of ***** and get a win, whilst looking like a team again.

It could have done and probably should have done but as we were reliant on a slightly dodgy penalty that only went in on a rebound I think we did indeed make very hard work of it. Never mind, either way we won and that's fantastic.

It's a massive all-round win for a "super fan" like me today:
3 points in the bag.
Beat Villa at home for the first time in 44 years.
Keeps Palace 7 points behind us.
Played well, especially second half.
Looked like scoring more than just the 1 goal.
Shuts-up the moaning Minnies.

Fabulous afternoon, and no mistake. :)
Adringa was very good, we didn’t make loads of mistakes and the ref was pretty fair.

The ref dished out two yellows for us for marginal pull backs on the half way line.

Kept his card in his pocket, when Pedro was wiped out having k nocked the ball past his defender in a similar position.

The ref was the standard level of "fair" for me.
Not borderline corrupt, but decidely one-eyed.

The Guardian had him as a Gregg Allman lookalike. Made me wonder if that would mean much to anyone.

he was the brother of my avatar, Duane, in the Allman Brothers Band

Yes as hopefully it will put to bed all the ridiculous comments about us sacking De Zerbi

Haven't seen any replays yet.

Was the pen dodgy?
Looked nailed on from the stand.
